The National Innovation Diploma in Software Engineering is designed to produce skilled software technicians who should be able to solve a wide range of problems by the systematic development and evaluation of high quality software solutions.


A product of NID in Computer Software Engineering should be able to:

  1. Develop and maintain software solutions for a wide spectrum of fields and programming languages
  2. Design and test software to optimise its production and support
  3. Manage and work with a team on a software project
  4. Set-up a software and business solutions business

The students would learn to work with a number of Software Tools including:

  • Java Netbeans
  • Eclipse IDE
  • Visual Studio
  • MySQL


This programme is expected to be in form of term/session-based training courses of not less than 2 years for full time and 3 for part-time.

Entry Requirements

The entry requirements into National Innovation Diploma in Computer Software Engineering programme include any of the following:-

  • Five (5) credit level passes in GCE “O” level or Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) at not more than two sittings. The five subjects must include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English language and any other subject.
  • National Vocational Certificate (NVC Final) in Computer Studies from an approved Vocational Enterprise Institution (VEI).
